Google maps decided to "update the interface" and they got rid of the ability to re-order map points without deleting, and restarting, or copy pasting them back in, in an order that you want. What would be best would be a function that you could say "give me the shortest distance between these 7 points", and i don't think that would be that hard. If they aren't going to do that, they could at least give us our re order function back!! GRRR |

What is your desired or ideal profession?
I am the first to admit that I don’t know what I am going to do once I am done with college. I just know that I want to get a job that I enjoy and that might help to make a positive differnece in some peoples lives. I am trying to learn as much as I can about as many different subjects as I can to try to figure it all out. Recently I got interested ini issues surrounding fair trade and sustainability. I have been involved with the Amherst Fair Trade Partnership and Umass Students for Fair trade for the last two semesters. I am very interested in looking at the overlap between my major, social thought and political economy, with the issues of trade. While it is not definite, it could defiantly see myself working with issues surrounding trade, specifically fair trade and |

I am a womens studies major at UMASS Amherst. I am doing a final paper on "feminine products" and i was wondering if any of you knew of any feminist theory, sociology theory, or theory in general (books, articles, etc) that speak to the idea of menstrual products and contriversary surrounding cups, tampons, pads, etc.
I am basing it on theory that i find, as well as peoples individual expenrencees with disposible & re-usable pads, tampons (with and without applicators), and menstral cups. (are there other products that are out there and are used today \
http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/consumer/tamponsabs.html tampons and asbestos, Dioxin, & Toxic Shock Syndrome FDA regulates the safety and effectiveness of medical devices, including tampons. Recently it has come to the agency's attention that allegations about tampons are being spread over the Internet. It is alleged that tampons are contaminated by asbestos and dioxin during manufacture, and that rayon fibers cause toxic shock syndrome (TSS). The available scientific evidence does not support these rumors. The following information will help answer concerns.
Vaginal dryness and ulcerations may occur when women use tampons more absorbent than needed for the amount of their menstrual flow. Ulcerations have also been reported in women using tampons between menstrual periods to try to control excessive vaginal discharge or abnormal bleeding. Women may avoid problems by choosing a tampon with the minimum absorbency needed to control menstrual flow and using tampons only during active menstruation. To help women compare absorbency from brand to brand, FDA requires that manufacturers measure absorbency using a standard method and describe absorbency on the package using standardized terms. Thus, the terms "junior," "regular," "super," and "super plus," always describe a specific range of tampon absorbency regardless of the brand. FDA requires manufacturers to give information on the package labeling about the signs of TSS and how to minimize the risk. Women are encouraged to read this information before using tampons and to ask about TSS when getting a medical checkup. More information is available about this topic on the web at: in other words - yes it happens, but it happens to women who are stupid too, so those stupid women need to make better choices (oops.. did we "accidentally forget to address that first issue"
http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/grow/girlstuff/pads_tampons.html Once you get your period, you'll need to use something to soak up the menstrual blood. Your choices are a pad or a tampon. If you've ever seen them on the store shelves, you know there are many varieties to choose from. How do you know which one is right for you?

Ban 'Tintin in the Congo': British anti-racist group Wed Jul 11, 2:15 PM ET
LONDON (AFP) - A British chain of bookstores, Borders, said Wednesday it had yanked copies of a Tintin book from its children's sections after a race watchdog complained it was racist -- but would continue to sell it on adults' shelves.
The Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) said it "beggared belief" that Borders should sell "Tintin in the Congo", claiming it contained potentially highly offensive material.
"This book contains imagery and words of hideous racial prejudice, where the 'savage natives' look like monkeys and talk like imbeciles," a spokeswoman said.
"How and why do Borders think that it's okay to peddle such racist material?"
The CRE said it was contacted by a Borders customer last month who saw the book on sale in London.
In response, a spokesman for the US-owned store said: "Naturally, some of the thousands of books and music selections we carry could be considered controversial or objectionable depending on individual political views, tastes and interests.
"However, Borders stands by its commitment to let customers make the choice. "After consideration of this title, we have instructed all stores to move it to the adult graphic novels section."
"Tintin in the Congo", which first appeared in Belgian newspaper Le Vingtieme Siecle as a comic strip in 1930-1931, is part of the series "The Adventures of Tintin" by the Belgian author and illustrator Herge.
But its tale of boy reporter Tintin's trip with his dog Snowy to what was then the Belgian Congo is seen as controversial by some because of its depiction of colonialism and racism, as well as casual violence towards animals.
Herge later justified the book by saying it was merely a reflection of the naive views of the time. Some of the scenes were revised for later editions.
